Special Needs Dentistry is a term that refers to the treatment of any patient who may have special requirements for their dental care due to physical or mental health conditions. For example, a child with extreme dental anxiety may need specialized care, such as sedation, comforting toys, and other accommodations. A child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may be sensitive to light or noise and will benefit from earplugs or dark glasses to help them enjoy a relaxing, stress-free visit.

Dr. Nasem trained at Children’s Hospital Orange County (CHOC) during her pediatric residency and focused specifically on treating special needs children.
